Cell Phone KIA

Posted on Thursday 20 July 2006

Well, I did go out sailing on Wednesday. While the day was pretty good overall, my cell phone was killed in action. It fell out of my shirt pocket, and into the water along side the Pretty Gee, when I was tieing off one of the docklines. So, if you’re trying to reach me at the moment, e-mail is probably your best bet. Also, if you want to send my your contact information again, I will put you into the new phone, which should be here next week.

Unfortunately, the Samsung SGH-D600 I had, and just ordered another of, isn’t compatible with iSync yet. So most of the contact information was on the sim card, and my old sim card is currently residing at the bottom of the Acushnet river. UGH. I’ll post more about the sailing in another story soon. While the D600 is a great phone….it isn’t waterproof and doesn’t swim well.

Definitely my fault…as I thought I had put the cell phone in my shorts, and the that it was the camera in my shirt pocket. The camera is waterproof, and has a nice leash—the phone is not and has no leash…I do have a little waterproof case I am supposed to keep the cell phone in…but wasn’t using it on Wednesday.

I’m not the only one who’s dealing with a lost cell phone. Sherry, over at Stay of Execution, recently lost her phone. UGH… I have to get down to the T-mobile store and get a new sim card too boot.

Ouch dude.. I feel for you… I lost my 600 dollar tre0 overboard in exactly the same way.. It was in the shirt pocket and I bent over to secure a line on deck.. It barely made a sound as it zipped beneath the water. that was in march or so… still havent replaced it.. I just ended up getting a cheap used phone for the meantime till i can afford to replace the nice one.
