Over at Homeland Stupidity, there’s a post about Brigham Young University Steven Jones. Jones is asking for a special investigation to see if the World Trade Center buildings were brought down by explosions in a controlled demolition.
Jones makes several strong arguments which point towards the use of explosives, as the cause of the collapse of the three buildings, rather than the impact of the planes, debris and subsequent fires.
All three buildings fell almost straight down, into their own footprint. This is not only very unlikely, but also minimizes the amount of damage done by the falling buildings. Symmetrical collapses are also usually only seen in carefully controlled demolitions.
With the exception of the three buildings at the World Trade Center, no other steel framed buildings have ever collapsed due to fire, even with fires of much greater duration than those experienced at the three WTC buildings.
Building 7, which was only hit by debris fell in 6.6 seconds—only .6 seconds greater than would be expected in freefall. Unless the lower floors were damaged by explosives during the collapse, it should have taken far longer to collapse.
The concrete found in other building non-explosive-caused collapses leaves large amounts of shattered concrete debris, rather than the fine powdery concrete found at the World Trade Center buildings. The fine powdery concrete is similar to what is often found at planned demolitions.
In videos of the collapse of the three WTC buildings, squib-like explosions can be seen preceding the main collapse and debris cloud. These explosions are similar to what can be seen at planned demolitions.
There were large pools of molten steel found deep underground during the excavation of the two towers. The temperatures required to cause such large molten pools of steel several weeks after the collapse of the buildings is not possible in a jet-fuel-based fire.
Multiple explosions were reported by firefighters and other officials who were on sight at the World Trade Center buildings.
Some other points to consider are that no plane was ever conclusively found at the Pentagon impact site or at the crash site in Pennsylvania.
The size of the hole in the Pentagon was too small to account for the impact of a 757 jet.
No trace of either 9-foot-diameter, six-ton jet engine from a 757 was ever found at the Pentagon.
